Museo del Carmen Alto

Since 1653, the life of the Discalced Carmelite Sisters was spent in absolute seclusion in the Monastery of Carmen Alto de San José, the former home of Saint Mariana de Jesús, located in the Historic Center of Quito.On December 5, 2013, the oldest cloisters of the Monastery were opened to the public for the first time as a museum. It is said that Saint Mariana de Jesus lived in them.The museum houses two exceptional patios for corporate and cultural events that generate a relationship with the spiritual essence of the space.
