It is a public sector entity with scope in the Republic of Ecuador, responsible for investigating and exercising technical control in accordance with public policy issued by the governing body Ministry of Culture and Heritage of Ecuador, for the preservation, conservation, appropriation and appropriate use of tangible and intangible cultural heritage.It will be consolidated as a specialized research center, with a high technical scientific capacity, allowing the study, analysis and application of theories, methodologies and techniques for: cataloging, documenting, protecting and enhancing heritage assets, in order to disseminate and raise awareness of the various actors involved, on the importance and preservation of cultural heritage for the benefit of present and future generations.
